• Kindness

Kindness!! It’s just been on my heart. In our busy lives rushing here and there sometimes we tend to see the strangers around us in stories that we make up. A woman in the grocery store line yells at her kids and we think what a terrible mother! But maybe she’s a single mother and just lost her job. Someone cuts you off in traffic and you get angry and you yell and raise your fist. Maybe they just got a call that someone they love has been taken to the emergency room. That teenager you meet who’s quiet and seems angry and disrespectful. Maybe they are hurting because of…

  • Run Your Race – Week 3

1 Corinthians 9: 24-27 “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize?  All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.  So, I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadow boxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.  Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified.”  Spiritual exercise: Paul uses this illustration to let us know that winning a race takes purpose and discipline.  The Christian life does take…

  • 5 Things to Change Your Life

Wow! So much truth in Paul’s words. These 5 things can change your life. Be on alert for spiritual enemies, stand firm for your beliefs, deal with sins even when it’s not easy, recognize the strength that is available from the Holy Spirit, and LOVE – do all things with love!

  • Honor God with your body – Week 2

Ezekiel 5:11 “As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I will cut you off completely.  I will show you no pity at all because you have defiled my temple with your vile images and detestable sins.”  In the Old Testament God was angry with the Israelites, they were committing serious sin, defiling God’s temple, God’s sanctuary by worshiping idols and practicing evil within its walls.   In the NT, we learn that God makes his home within those who are His – a new covenant was made.  Our body is God’s temple!!!! When we become Christians, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, therefore we no longer own…

  • Food – 2020 – Week 1

Lisa here! Happy New Year!! Have you stepped on the scale today, committed to eating a certain way or started back at the gym?  This is what most of us, men or women, have on our minds this first Monday of 2020. This will be a 4 part blog series referencing the topic of how to “Honor God with your Body.” I will be posting every Monday in January 2020.  Most of this blog is from a talk I gave at our Women’s Retreat at Pursuit Church back in 2017 about discipline and self-control.  Week One: I will share my personal story on food and exercise, so please read and…

  • Overcome then Become

“Mom, why I am going through this? Why is God letting this happen to me?” Almost 365 days ago we started on a journey with our daughter that I never one time anticipated. It began with complaints of joint pain. We chalked it up to growing pains and playing volleyball. The pain persisted. Since January we’ve seen multiple doctors and specialists complete with x-rays, MRI’s and more vials of blood than I can count. We finally found our way to Levine’s Children’s Hospital. It was September 5th and I could barely get her in and out of the car. Throughout the year I’ve been a cheerleader – encouraging her, praying…

  • Choose LOVE

Good morning! Christmas is in two days! Heather and I absolutely LOVE CHRISTMAS!! A lot of us will be super busy traveling, cooking, baking cookies, shopping, wrapping and spending time with family over the next few days. Heather and I both had a great reminder in our reading in Romans 13 this morning: “LOVE your neighbor as yourself!” When things get chaotic, crowds are overwhelming or that one family member annoys you – remember to LOVE. Paul says, “owe nothing to anyone – except for your obligation to LOVE one another” (Romans 13:9) THAT IS IT! LOVE I say daily… “Nobody owes me a thing!” There is a sticky note…

  • Goodness

The first time I read this in Romans I breezed right by it. But yesterday it jumped out in bold font! I spent years and years trying to be “good” – I truly thought if I don’t cuss, if I’m nice, if I volunteer, if I teach Sunday school, God will bless me and my family. But I was stumbling over the stone – every – single – time! God sent his son to save ALL people. Not just good people. God’s plan has always been for us to realize we will NEVER be good enough so we must constantly pray and depend on Him. #crazyfaith Big hugs and lots…
