• Memorial Day Thankfulness

Rooted would like to honor our military men and women and their families today for their ultimate sacrifice. Many of the companies we work for give us this day off, so please take some extra time today to pray for the families of these heroes. These heroes who gave their lives FOR US so we can live in America, be free, and have many choices freedom brings. #freespeach #faith #God #pursuitofhappyness If you have not been to our National Cemetery, please go and walk the many many rows of these military men and women. It is so very emotional and yet extremely powerful to build faith and a loving heart…

  • LET THE LIGHT IN

The first time I heard the song Let the Light In by Kari Jobe I thought about my sweet Maggie when she was a newborn infant.  The doctor recommended letting her sleep during the day in front of the window so she could get natural sunlight to help improve her jaundice. We were letting the light in to heal her little body.  All through the Bible there are references to light.  Similar to the physical light that helped heal my daughter; God’s light is available to heal us spiritually. His light brings us joy, comfort, and healing. Our culture reminds us daily of the evils in the world.  All the…

  • It Is Written

This scripture in James has encouraged me throughout my career and helps me remember…Pride leads to self and being humble leads to God. It is His way!! So thankful for God’s unconditional love and grace because of Jesus our Savior. If you are in the middle of a pride storm, go to God this morning – actually run!! Humble yourself on your knees and realize that God’s approval is all we need. Not other people’s. As Christian leaders, recognize first and foremost that God defines us and our worth…not our career, other people, or our circumstances. With the Holy Spirit inside of us, He can help us turn from pride…

  • Doing What Is Right!

God commands us all through the Bible to turn from evil and do what is right. Doing what is right is more than simply believing all the right doctrines about God. Doing what is right means living in obedience and displaying your faith to honor God. #love “We are to be fair-minded and just. Do what is right! Help those who have been robbed; rescue them from their oppressors. Quit your evil deeds!”  This scripture is part of Jeremiah 22:3 and what the Lord said to Judah’s King of that time. We are not Kings but we are Christian leaders in the work world and we are to follow God’s…

  • You Never Know

A colleague is late for a meeting….. A mother yells at her kids in the grocery line….. A car passes you erratically…. A student misses homework for a few days….. An employee seems distant and not engaged…. What if…. That colleague just found out their parent is very sick. That mother just found out she lost her job. The driver was rushing home because of an emergency. The student is coping with family stress… The employee just learned a close friend was diagnosed with a terrible disease. I recently listened to a beautiful testimony of how God rescued a woman from years of anxiety and fear. She had experienced one…

  • Under Pressure?

Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to be going right? Well…yesterday was a day like that for me and I said to Heather – am I being tested?  But I was not sure what “being tested” actually meant… Then this morning in my reading in 2 Chronicles 32 verse 31 it said clear as day,  “…God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and see what was really in his heart.” Heather and I always say, if it is written we are to trust our God and His living Word, He gives it to us at the right time and for a reason. So…if I was…

  • Embrace vs Reject

Are you embracing the Will of God? Great question I continually talk with God about daily in prayer. If you are in a fiery trial or doubting a decision – go to Him and talk – He is waiting for us “to be willing to be willing.” I heard the above phrase from a dear friend yesterday “to be willing to be willing.”  I can’t get it out of my mind and heart. You all, it is His Will not our will.  We encourage you as Christians to open yourself up to His Will and walk by Faith, He does and will guide us. (even if it is not what…

  • You’ve Been Called

Paul’s words in Galatians are powerful – we are to “love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:14 . This is also said by Jesus in Matthew 22:39. When believers lose the motivation of love we become critical of others. We stop looking for the good in them and only see their faults. Soon we lose our unity. Paul reminded me this morning to stay motivated through Christ and His Holy Spirit to love and serve each other. #freedom #Jesus #love #servantsheart Stay Rooted, Lisa & Heather

  • Our Great Partner

Have you ever seen a yoke? Essentially it’s a long piece of wood that rests on an ox’s neck to increase the pulling power. It’s often laid across two oxen to keep them working together. Simple and effective. But it’s wood and it’s heavy. As working women rooted in faith we know that the Bible doesn’t tell us our days won’t be without trouble. We will have yokes in life; trials, tribulations and challenges that hang around our neck even after we’ve given our lives to God. But we also know that God provides shelter; He covers us with His wings. And He takes our burdens and places them on…

  • Troubles…Joy

Reading in the OT this morning about Kings that were pleasing in God’s eyes or not. Many Kings faced  problems or tragedy that led to many types of troubles.  My Bible teaching said we must remember that troubled times give us a chance to grow.  When I am in the midst of troubles, I don’t always think about growth – but God does. This led me to the book of James. “…when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.”  James 1:2 Troubles equal great joy?!  This is a hard verse to really take hold of and believe when you are in a heap…
