• RESPONSE VS REACTION

Choosing how we handle the day to day “craziness” as I call it builds resilience. Every day we are faced with challenges and decisions. I have learned through my career, in being a wife, and a mother of three that things don’t always go as planned. Honestly! Learn that now! For many years this was a big struggle in my life because I’m a planner and I like things to go smoothly. If something didn’t go well I felt I had not prepared well enough or that I simply wasn’t good enough. #lies And then came 2022….and well, this has just been a whole year of craziness that has continued…

  • Fire Control…

Proverbs can really wake us up to bad habits we continue to do. How many times a day do you complain, gossip about someone (won’t say it in front of them basically) or just plain have an attitude of being annoyed with people? I dare you to keep track…it will give us a dose of self awareness we all need! Then go read Proverbs each day. It will remind us that we can be kind to others and really LOVE like Jesus. “Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops.” Proverbs 26:20 When we keep talking and complaining about every little irritation in a situation & also…

  • WE ARE ALL WAITING ON SOMETHING

Chances are if you are reading this you are waiting on something. Maybe you are waiting on a child you’re trying so hard to conceive, a diagnosis from a doctor, a new job, a promotion, reconciliation, maybe healing from sickness or disease, or maybe you’re even waiting for someone that you love so dearly to accept Christ. We are all waiting on something or someone. One of the most beautiful stories in the Bible is about a Father who was waiting on his son to return home. In the gospel of Luke chapter 15 we learn about the Prodigal Son. The young son took his inheritance and left his father’s…

  • Empowering

Leadership is influence – nothing more and nothing less.  This is how John Maxwell defines leadership and this definition has become part of Rooted’s DNA. This week in my Bible reading some of the Proverbs that nudged my heart to post were on reputation and doing the right thing in leadership. As leaders that want the right kind of influence with our teams, our reputation needs to reflect our character.  Our character should emulate and reflect the character of our Jesus.  Read the Gospels to learn Jesus’ character – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It will change your leadership life. As we also celebrate the birth of our Savior this…

  • Our Thoughts Determine Our Character!

As Christian leaders we must remember the importance of our thoughts.  Through listening to understand and feeding our thoughts (minds) with God’s Word – we will remain steadfast and do what we know is right. #bible Our thoughts determine our character! “For as he thinks within himself – so he is…” (Proverb 23:7). As Christian leaders we need to embrace good vision and indulge in godly pure thoughts then our hearts will remain on the right path. #dotherightthingalways Stay Rooted, Lisa & Heather

  • GREATER JOY

We are all searching for joy, especially this time of year!  To experience great pleasure or delight!  I mean it is the Holidays, we should be joyful…right? As I study and read God’s Word, I have learned there are two kinds of joy. What kind of joy do you have? Keep reading. “You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.” Psalm 4:7 We all long for this “greater joy” in our lives. In this Psalm David seems to be talking about inward joy vs outward joy aka happiness. Greater joy comes from the inside, starting with knowing and trusting God. David…

  • ARE YOU REALLY LISTENING?

God doesn’t like to shout. Don’t get me wrong. He will get our attention if we aren’t listening. But we can often find God gently whispering in the quietness of our surrendered heart. If we are listening. Elijah felt defeated and ready to give up. But from the cave on Mount Sinai he witnessed a mighty windstorm, an earthquake, and a fire. But the Lord wasn’t in these loud and powerful events. “And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, “What are…

  • Unity

Proud people usually don’t think they are proud but people around them are well aware of it! “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18 From what I have studied, haughtiness is when one thinks they are arrogantly superior and better than other people. If one is proud they take little account for their weaknesses and their self-satisfaction is top priority – can you say arrogance? When swimming in the pool of arrogance…the Golden Rule is not considered – if they want it, they will get it, no matter what, no matter who they hurt and at any cost – period. Do you work with anyone like…

  • ADVENT IS MORE THAN CHOCOLATE IN A BOX

I am not quite sure how we got to December so fast. I guess all of those sayings I heard as a kid about time speeding up as you get older we’re certainly true. And it continues to gain momentum. As Thanksgiving came to close I was shocked that last Sunday marked the first day of Advent. So what is Advent? I asked Google! The Advent season lasts for four Sundays. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, or the nearest Sunday to November 30. Advent ends on Christmas Eve and thus is not considered part of the Christmas season. The Advent celebration is both a commemoration of Christ’s…
