Judging

Judging:

Monday Morning Question?

How many times a day do you judge other people or yourself at work?

I (Lisa) was challenged to write down every time I judged someone or myself at work last Tuesday! I wrote down “verbal” judging along with “in my mind” judging.

Wow – is all I can say!!

I had 9 things I wrote down in my notes app before lunch. 😔 This was a pretty eye opening exercise. #humbling

We are NOT to judge others. To judge is GOD’s exclusive right only – Not ours!

There are many types of judging, but today let’s look at labels. We put labels on people as our favorite way to judge!

A few labels that Mathew Kelly pointed out in Rediscover Jesus are: “she’s a liberal, she is friends with those people, they belong to that club, she goes to that church, she got her education at that school, she lives on that street, she went to that school?”

Really think about this, who are WE to judge anyone? Labels seem so innocent, but they are not! We tend to say we are just giving the “FACTS” about that person …but that is how unfeeling and flippant our label judging has become. It seems we don’t care who we hurt as we label them. This behavior is wrong and we need to stop judging by labels.

Even Jesus was not spared this type of label judging.

“Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” Mark 2:16

Jesus actions and motives were constantly being questioned and judged.

Jesus reminds us: “Do not judge, so that you may not be judged…” This is part of Matthew 7:1-5. Go read it! Learn what Jesus teaches about judging others.

Let’s pray today for the Holy Spirit to make us aware before we fall into judging someone or ourselves. Ask Him to give us the GRACE to STOP ourselves! Amen ❤️

Have a great Monday!
