  • Why We Can’t Rip the Band-Aid Off

The shelves in my home are adorned with the many clay figurines that my children made in their early years. The colorful monkey face, the little fish, the tiny bowl, and Mr. Crooked Snowman are some of my favorite earthly treasures. I’ve never had the heart to pack them away and put them out of sight.  My daughter is blessed with a gift. She’s very artistic. I remember so vividly her little hands molding and forming her master pieces on her pottery wheel. She would spend hours working and working to make what she envisioned. And in the end despite some imperfections the little clay figures turned out just perfect. …

  • How is Peace Kept?

How is peace kept?  Solomon teaches us in Proverbs what is means to keep the peace – it is with gentle words.  Gentle, soft, mild and tender words delivered with kindness, meekness, softness, humility and tenderness will deflect anger and wrath.  This will lead to a LIFE filled with peace.  To turn away anger & wrath – to seek peace – speak gentle words! Happy Monday! Stay Rooted, Lisa and Heather #rooted #peace #gentle #words

  • Even in the…

Jeremiah spent his entire life prophesying and confronting some pretty big personalities. Can you imagine the heartache of knowing people didn’t listen! Imagine the sheer anguish Jeremiah felt as he watched Judah destroyed. He loved those people and his grief ran deep. All of us at some point will or may be experiencing grief.  It is surely part of life and being a Christian doesn’t make us immune to grief. After the fall of Judah, Jeremiah begins to write Lamentations. This book is called the “funeral song” – everything was destroyed just as God had warned. But despite the destruction and sadness that Jeremiah felt these words stopped me as…

  • SLOW TO ANGER: Enduring Patience

“He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.” Proverbs 14:29 A mild, patient man is one that learns & follows Jesus, who is Wisdom.  Meekness is wisdom, our Christ was so meek.  Understanding = Wisdom.  Anger is passion, an emotional response of rage, hate and selfishness (hasty of spirit). We must be SLOW to react to this passion per Solomon.  A person who is slow to the wrath (passion) of anger understands themselves and human nature.  They will bear much and are so very patient. Anger is real and many times justified but one who slowly and patiently grasps…

  • What Blessings Await

There will be situations in life when you cannot obey both God and people. Conflict with this world and it’s authorities is inevitable for us Christians. The Bible says when this happens we must obey God and trust His Word!! Let Jesus’ words in Luke 6:22 encourage you, “What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man.” #followJesus #activefaith #blessing #stayrooted #priorities #rightthing

  • Where to Run

Close your eyes for just a few seconds. Think about a time that you felt all hope was lost.  Perhaps you were so hurt, so burdened that you just didn’t know what to do. Now read Psalm 91. A beautifully written chapter on God’s protection. Heartache and sadness happen to us. Danger exists in this world. But we don’t have to live in fear. We don’t have to feel lost with nowhere to turn. You see we can run to our Father!  His arms are outstretched! And there we can seek shelter right beside Him. We can tell him why we are hurting, why we are scared. His promise of…

  • Check Your Attitude

A mocker is a scoffer and we all know people who scoff at every word of instructions or advice, they will struggle to find wisdom.  Keep seeking God’s Word and applying it to your life.  If you are at a standstill…check your attitude. #confidentweek #stayrooted #attitudematters
