Nagging – Not God’s way!
“A quarrelsome wife is annoying as a constant dripping on a rainy day. Stopping her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or trying to hold something with greased hands.” Proverb 27:15-16 What is quarrelsome nagging? It is a steady stream of unwanted advice mixed with anger and complaining – it is truly a form of torture for our husband. Being a wife of almost 30 years, I am very familiar with the destructive habit of nagging and complaining! It is one of the easiest ways to spoil a husband’s happiness. Why do we nag and complain? We want to get our point across to our husband with our…

Lessons Learned from a Bottled Water
Several years ago I was sharing my frustration with my Director because one of the hotels I frequented regularly had charged me $5 for a bottle of water that I had not consumed. I had been in touch with the hotel manager on several occasions trying to get my account credited. After weeks of phone calls and emails I still had not gotten the credit. (Seriously this must have been really hard!) I felt like such an injustice had been committed and I was on a mission. My boss listened to my rant then simply looked at me and said, “So how much of the company’s money have you spent…

Rest Your Brain
Sometimes just being quiet for one minute is all we need! Information comes at us all day long! Our brains need a break! Try it today! Rest your brain. Set a timer. Think about your favorite Bible verse, say a prayer, or just sit in his presence….

Laziness Leads To Destruction
“A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things.” Proverbs 18:9 (NLT) “One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.” Proverbs 18:9 (NIV) “Lazy” and “slack” stick out above and then we read “destroys.” These are two different translations of the same Proverb. God does not want us to be lazy in our daily job or spiritual life, laziness will lead to destruction. Let’s look at our daily job: We go to work each day to provide money but many complain and are lazy on the job. If we are LAZY on the job we fail to grow. We do earn a paycheck,…

OPEN your Mouth
Good morning ladies! Happy Sunday! Lisa here – I had a great reminder from a friend last night that we need to keep telling the lost about Jesus – we can’t keep Him to ourselves. We need to open our mouths! Be bold! Be willing to be different and possibly lose a friend, job, or family member for the sake of Jesus. The main takeaway from our conversation was that Paul was in jail so many times because he would not stop TALKING about Jesus! If you are not talking about Him to everyone are you not hungry for Him?! We need to share the Good News to everyone we…

ARE YOU LIKE MARY OR MARTHA?
One thing I have loved about my study in the book of Luke is that he wrote about accounts that are not in any other of the gospels. As I read this morning about when Jesus visited Martha and her sister Mary, I reflected on which of these two ladies I identified with. Hands down it is Martha! Martha believed who Jesus was and had growing faith. She also had a strong desire to do everything right! (yep, that is me!). I am often teased about my extreme planning and organizational skills. Especially when I whip out my beach trip spreadsheet! However, Martha (just like myself) had some flaws. Martha…

Refuse the Dessert And Keep Your Heart Light:
“The words of a gossip are like sweet morsels; they go down to the inner most parts.” Proverbs 18:8 In Proverbs 6 the Bible reveals 7 things God detests. God hates a lying tongue and a false witness who puts out lies. In my opinion being a gossip walks toward these things God hates. So many of us women say, I am not gossiping, I am telling the truth about this person! Gossip is talking about someone behind their backs and saying things you will not say to their face. Most of the time it is painted truth to make the story even more tempting to engage with and then…

WILL I SEE MY ENEMY IN HEAVEN?
The word enemy is a strong word. It brings with it a heaviness, a feeling of danger, fear, and even war. The dictionary defines an enemy as a thing that harms or weakens something else or a person who is actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those that hurt you.” Luke 6:27 There are four very specific commands that we are given when we encounter someone who opposes us or harms us: love, do good, bless, and pray. I don’t know…

The Tongue
“Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.” Proverbs 17:28 As leaders and Christians, our words have influence and carry the power of life and death to our teams. Just think about this, God shaped the world with His words! As leaders, we must NEVER forget the power of our words flowing off our tongues will shape our teams. When studying about the tongue, nothing gives away the state of our faith quicker than our speech! When we are yelling, gossiping, mocking, screaming, or accusing someone harshly; this speech is revealing what is in our hearts. Jesus says in Matthew 12:34, “…For…

GiGi
Being a parent…is an incredible miracle given to us by God. We long for our babies to reach the next phase, to grow, and to flourish. We have hopes and dreams for our children and want the best for them. We will protect them to any means. I am blessed to be reliving this miracle of babies through my kids and their sweet daughters Ayla and Remi. Being a GiGi is a blessing beyond words. But…the babies must grow up because time does not stand still. As parents we want to give them everything they physically want and need to be successful in life. Well, I am here today to…
