Hope for our Tongues…
The book of James is small in comparison to other great books in the Bible but it packs a mighty punch. James 1:26 “If you claim to be religious but do not control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is WORTHLESS. Ouch! This truth can be hard to accept. James goes on to tell us in Chapter 3 that the tongue is like a “flame of fire” and a “whole world of wickedness.” “It is set on fire by hell itself.” No human can tame the tongue in their own strength. Nor does religion. But there is hope! When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, He…

Don’t Let the Enemy Win Twice
In Ecclesiastes 11:3 (NLT) we learn, “When clouds are heavy, the rains come down. Whether a tree falls north or south, it stays where it falls.” What happened has happened. Don’t live in regret. Just like the tree that falls; it has fallen. It can not be changed. Living in past regret keeps us from living our fullest in the presence of God today. By entrusting our hearts to our Heavenly Father, we no longer have to live in regret of past events in our life. They have been transferred from our hands to His. We can now live in peace and without shame. “Don’t let the enemy win twice.”…

Prayer is Important
Prayer is important and will change your life forever! Here is what prayer means to some of you: Terri Broome: “My connection to God.” Lisa Robinette : “My lifeline to God.” Deborah Chapman : “Our small group started Armor of God last night. My lifeline (prayer) is going to start each morning by putting on the full armor of God and swaying the balance to victory through prayer.” Angie Creech Green : “Strength and direction!” Allison Denise Pelphrey : “It’s a gift to be able to speak to my Father anytime and all the time. Prayer opens the portals to heaven. God sees, hears and responds to me as I…

The Proverbs 31 Woman
Three years ago I was asked to speak at UNC Charlotte about my career as a female engineer. The idea of speaking was a little daunting but I was also very excited. Through my talk I spoke about the highs and lows of being a female in a primarily male dominated field while also raising three children. I spoke about integrity, staying committed, the importance of a support network, and the power of saying no at times. But the main point I wanted everyone in that room to know and understand was my recent “ah-ha” moment I had in my life. After spending an afternoon at a retreat writing my…

Power of Saying No

Rest…
In Exodus 33 Moses is speaking to God saying, “If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor.” Moses was not a perfect man but he had a personal relationship with God!! Moses spoke to God often and he relied on God’s wisdom to guide him. We are called to have that same relationship. The response: The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Wow! What a promise!!! You are never alone; even in the days of your deepest sorrow. Reach out…seek God with…

A Promised Rest
Be watchful of the enemy and don’t give in to fear. God has promised that He will conquer our enemies when they rise against us. We can have peace and rest but only through our savior Jesus Christ! #stayrooted #apromisedrest

Ladder Holding
“Who are you coaching and developing to replace you?” In 2017 my then Director asked me this question. Often it is our human nature to only think of self promotion instead of the promotion of others. However, it is important that we continually look for and invest time in future leaders. As Jesus walked the earth he was surrounded by disciples; his trusted inner circle. Especially when it came to Peter, James, and John. He spent time with them, he invested in them, and he taught them to become future leaders of God’s word. So how can you lead differently and develop that next leader to emerge from your team?…

Who is in Your Inner Circle?
Do you surround yourself with people that compliment your strengths and enhance your weaknesses? In Exodus we see that God gave Moses a tremendous task! Not only did he have to keep going to Pharaoh to warn of the plagues but God also asked him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Those are some BIG asks! Moses was human and he often didn’t feel adequate to accomplish these tasks by himself! So what did he do? He surrounded himself with people that could help him. He leaned on Aaron, his brother and later on Joshua who led the Isaelite army. These men supported Moses because they trusted him, but…

Life & Death in the Tongue
As Christians leaders within our work place – we have to think about the words we speak. Our tongue can carry great influence or tear someone down. The tongue is powerful! Go study James 3 about your tongue and make an effort for a desire change. #tamethetongue #selfdiscipline
