Who is Your Favorite?

When my daughter was a little girl she would often say, ‘Mommy, who is your favorite?’ She is the youngest with two older brothers. My response was always the same. “I love all three of you with all my heart, but you are my favorite daughter.” (Oh those days go by fast!)

I thought about her little innocent question as I was reading Romans 2:11: “For God does not show favoritism.”

Over and over again it is written:

Galatians 2:6 “God has no favorites”

Ephesians 6:9 “…and he has no favorites.”

Colossians 3:25 “…for God has no favorites…”

Acts 10:34 “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism.”

We often think of “being a favorite” on earthly terms – meaning higher than, more loved, rank and status. There is a difference in “being favored” and “being a favorite” (that’s another blog!) But in terms of status and rank, our sinful nature can start to make us believe that by being “good” and “doing all the Christian things” we will be loved more. I spent most of my Christian life trying to be good so that God would see me and so I could feel important.

Here is the wonderful truth! God loves each and everyone of us! His truth, freedom, and love are available to ALL people. Regardless of earthly status ALL believers are equal in Christ. We are ALL His favorites. ❤️
