The Lord Knows the Heart
One of the most freeing aspects of walking your life in step with God is not trying to be someone else. So much energy is often spent trying to hide who we really are. #fakenews
King Ahab tried to disguise who he was by changing his clothing. He didn’t want to look like a king as he rode out onto the battlefield. But the fatal arrow found him in the end; regardless of the clothing he chose to wear. (1 Kings 22). Ahab was full of pride, insecurity, and selfishness.
How do you lead people? Do you pretend to be someone you’re not? Do you abuse the authority you’ve been given? Are you more worried about your image than developing the people around you?
As your relationship with God grows it’s honestly freeing to know that God sees and examines our motives. We can pray for selfish motives to be revealed to us. We don’t have to pretend because God reveals to us who we really are. Let God open your eyes. Then you can walk out onto that battlefield just as you are. No disguise needed.
Psalm 139:23 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
Proverbs 16:2 “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.”
