Prayer Journal Challenge!

Today a lot of us have the day off in observance of Labor Day! Yay and enjoyed your day off!! First thing that pops into my mind on Labor Day is no more white pants and get ready to wear boots! Yay! ❤️

With the 3rd quarter of 2019 almost over, Heather and I have a challenge for you! We challenge you to start a prayer journal and continue it through December 2019!

Before you say no, listen to my story on prayer journaling! We will give you the why behind it and the how to do it. Know this to be true, if the Holy Spirit can lead me different and change me, He can lead you and change you!

For the first 45 years of my life I did not read or write anything. My mantra was “I don’t read, it is boring and I really just hate it! Oh and writing sucks too.” I am not sure how I made it through school and grew in my career, but I did somehow (thank you Jesus). It was not due to the love of reading or writing.

Then in May of 2016, right before I am saved and commit my life to Jesus, a friend gives me a blank journal and says she writes her prayers in it daily. That was a new concept for me. I really was not sure how to pray and thought, I will try this! Thank you Brandy Hills this was a life changing act of love you gave to me ❤️.

My first prayer journal started! Faithfully I pray and record daily in my journals. If I miss a day of recording my prayers, it is okay, God still loves me! For me it was learning about consistency and learning to build a spiritual habit.

Let me tell you how incredible it is to write to my best friend daily!! The BEST!!! This was a start of an incredible relationship with God and a way to build intimacy with Him!!

Over the past three years so much has been recorded. What is awesome about this for me is…I really can’t remember what I did yesterday! In this fast pace work world, my mind is in overload many days. My journals are a recording of my Christian journey and there for me to reflect back on!

Writing in my journals each day has strengthened my writing skills also! I now write a blog every other month for WWRF and post Monday’s weekly! My little pea brain could not have even comprehend that I would ever write anything! Oh our God – He is so so good!! I love to read and write now! I crave it. All glory be to our God!! ❤️

How do you write out your prayers? There is not a script obviously, but I can share my road map and you take the journey that works for you and the Holy Spirit.

I date my page and start everyday with “Good Morning God, thank you for today!” Terri Broome taught me this opening sentence and we feel it is the only way to start praying!! Be thankful! Thank God from the bottom of your heart that we get to know Him, love Him and be loved by Him and be His servants. We truly are so unworthy to even be in His presence, but we get to be!! God does not demand that we thank Him, but He is so pleased when we do!!

Write to Him like you would write to your earthly best friend. Be true, open and honest (He already knows everything!) Many times for me when I get everything out and verbalize it to God, I can begin to heal or move forward. Let’s remove our mask as Pastor Jordan said yesterday and put it all out there to God in prayer!

The most amazing thing with journaling is to look back and see answered prayers! In October of last year, I had a little voice in my head that said- go find this date a year ago and read it in your journal. So I did, it was an answered prayer that I prayed about with my position at work. I prayed for God to use me in anyway He needed and I would obey. This is a long story for another day, but trust me…it was a miracle, the prayer was answered and it was all recorded!!!

The challenge has been given! If you need a journal let Heather or I know, we will get one to you.

Excuses are excuses. To change we need to take the effort to do something different and then DO IT!!!

Who is in? Put your name and commitment below. This will change your life – I testify to this!
