Pray For Wisdom
Wisdom received is only effective when it is put into action. Bold statement right, but truth learned as I read about King Solomon’s life, his great wisdom, and his loyalty to our God.
Solomon became King and was able to ask God for anything he wanted and God would give it to him. (Love our God!!)
King Solomon asked, “Give me an understanding heart so I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong.” 1Kings 3:9
He wanted understanding to carry out his job. He did not ask for God to do his job for him and we should not ask God to do FOR us what he wants to do THROUGH us. #ahhamoment
“The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, ‘Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have!’” 1 Kings 3:10-12
What would you ask God for?
In James 1:5 it says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”
I learned how much Solomon did love the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David. As we know his father David was a friend of God’s and honored and praised our God fully. They were both obedient.
Thought to ponder, can I pray for wisdom like Solomon received?
Yes…but in James it does go on to say, “But when you ask Him (for wisdom), be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” 1:6-8
Phew. That is powerful – read it again and really ponder on your loyalty and who it is in? We can ask God for wisdom but our loyalty needs to be in God and God alone! This will make us stable.
If you are being bounced around by this world like a wave is by wind, go to God now!!! Get in relation with him – seek and call out to his son Jesus. Put 100% of your loyalty in Him, not the world or man.
As we ask God for wisdom in our prayers, let’s also ask Him to helps us know what to do with it, help us take action, and helps us follow through on it with courage. This has been my prayer over the last few weeks, He will guide.
Wisdom does take action and our TOTAL loyalty to our God. Follow what is written and watch your life transform!
