Leading Up
Servant leadership isn’t just about the way you lead down or across. It’s also about how you submit and honor your leader. As servant leaders we are also called to lead UP. We should show respect to authority, always be prepared (don’t waste someone else’s time), speak truthfully, provide solutions instead of arguments, and to faithfully execute our jobs. View your role as someone called to make your boss’s life easier. Add value to them too! We are thankful & blessed when our boss is a true, dynamic leader. But we aren’t always going to agree with our boss. Sometimes we may scratch our head wondering how they even got…

It’s Not Always About You
“Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:2-4 NIV True greatness comes from serving others. Jesus said this to James and John as they questioned their leadership status. Jesus came to this earth to serve others. He didn’t need a title or status – he focused on people and relationships. But so often in our culture self-promotion and personal achievement are the measures of…

Servant Leadership = Jesus
Matthew 14:1-14 is an example for us about Jesus on servant leadership. Jesus, the best leader ever – hands down, never pushed away people and always put them first! He was other-centered in His ministry. He was always adding value to others and had compassion, no matter what the circumstance. When John the Baptist was killed (this was his cousin and was one of the only people at that time who understood Jesus and His ministry) Jesus was heartbroken to lose his cousin and friend. I think of my cousins and how much I love them and cherish our friendships, if one would die it would break my heart. #family…

To Get Ahead – Put Others First
To get ahead as a leader, we need to put others first. This is a huge quality of servanthood leadership! As Christian leaders, we should value every person on the team and give to all. In 1Samuel 30:17-20 David did not think a warrior was more important in the fight vs a man staying back to watch the supplies. He had the attitude that God was the source of their victories and they all play a role in the process. They all got rewarded on David’s team!! #nofavorites Relating this to the company I work for, I could see a comparison of David and our owner! Bill JR cares and…

Servant Leadership
As responsibilities increase, rights as a leader should decrease. This is part of servant leadership and how Jesus leads us. This week Rooted will focus on servant leadership – what it means to lead your teams putting them first and you last. Servant leadership is not what the secular world thrives on, but we are called to be different as Christian leaders! Your challenge today – go forth and add value to your teams and put them first! “Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come…

Feed My Sheep
Leading up to the death of Jesus on the cross, Peter had denied knowing Jesus three times. Can you imagine what Peter must have felt when he saw Jesus standing on the beach? Peter didn’t hesitate upon seeing Jesus and jumped in the water and headed to shore. I wonder what was going through Peter’s mind at the moment? He was excited to see Jesus standing there, but was he also thinking about his denial? Was he worried how Jesus would respond to him? Jesus prepared breakfast and sat and ate with Peter and the disciples. Jesus did not chastise Peter or say one harsh word to him. Instead Jesus…

Don’t Forget The Why
Joshua carried out every detail that had been given to him. The Israelites had their land and had defeated many armies. But Joshua reminded the people again to “love the Lord your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him and serve him with all your heart and your soul.” It’s easy to get so caught up in the details and planning of the mission that we can forget the “why” behind the mission. But just as Joshua reminded the Israelites, we too must hold firmly to God with our whole heart so that our service brings honor and glory to the Father. #dontforgetthewhy #stayrooted

Love One Another
These words below speak truth! If you are hating someone right now or you are all caught up in drama & your feelings… STOP and remember what Jesus said – “love one another.” This commandment was given by Jesus in John 13:34. If it is written, we must apply His commandments to our lives!! #obedience “Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” You all – these are red letters above and love always wins! Jesus loves us so much so we need to push the hate aside, push…

I Once Was Blind
The Pharisees plotted against Jesus because they refused to believe who He was. Jesus came to give sight to the blind; yet the Pharisees rejected the fact that they were spiritually blind. These religious leaders claimed to be children of God but had become self-satisfied and stubborn and refused to listen. They claimed they could see but they were blind. As you reflect on the final days of Jesus’ life, think about how His sacrifice changed your life; how you were blind but now you see. And then go tell someone about your changed life. #easter2021 #madenew #wasblind #butnowIsee #losingmyreligion

Take the First Step
It was time for the Isrealites to finally cross the Jordan River and enter the Promised Land. The Lord told Joshua, “When you reach the banks of the Jordan River, take a few steps into the River and stop there.” As the priests entered the river with the Ark of the Covenant the “water began backing up a great distance until the riverbed was dry.” When the Israelites came to the river they had no idea how they would cross. I’m sure it seemed impossible – they had a big problem on their hands. But God provided instruction. What problems do you face today? Have you sought God in prayer…
