Priorities Day 2-
Do you have an intimate relationship with God? Do you live each day with the goal of putting God first? Yesterday Rooted focused on how to ensure we are prioritizing our time around the activities we have on our lists. At the top of any list we should have God – God is priority one for sure! He should be the most important thing in our lives! We think of God first when we put our priority list in order. Putting God first means we think of Him as we determine our attitude and how we respond to situations. Putting God first means we think of Him when we define…

Set Your Priorities
I love making lists! Ask anyone in my family. I’ve got a list for everything. I think it’s the only way my brain functions. But so very often lists become long and unmanageable. And it can quickly turn from a sense of accomplishment to a sense of dread. We tell ourselves – I just need more time. Time management – the most dreaded phrase! But it’s typically never a time problem that we are challenged with – it’s a priority problem. If you feel things are getting out of control then it’s time to prioritize. “We don’t drift in good directions. We discipline and prioritize ourselves there.” ― Andy Stanley…

Just Breathe…
This blog goes out today for all our young moms with babies! We have to remember to “just breathe” at times! You all have the hardest job on the planet!! Many of our young moms have children and go to work each day. This was my past life. It was a fast past life and pretty much a blur when I look back at my young children’s lives. If I could go back to the past and know what I know now…would I stay home with my kids?? Absolutely – YES!!! Many of the moms reading this blog do stay home with their children. I applaud you! This is honestly…

Selfless Service…
Many of us reading this blog may go to church each Sunday to feel better about ourselves. Some of us go to be accepted, relieve guilt, gain friends, volunteer, or even gain business contacts. Some of us just want to check the box – we went to church – we are good with God. What is your reason for attending church each Sunday? Reflect on this question in prayer today – ask God to show you. In Judges 18 it tells us to beware of following God for selfish gain rather selfless service. If we are attending church each Sunday for any other reason than to worship God and serve…

Imitation Matters
One of the sweetest things in life is to watch a small child imitate what they see their parents do. I remember my heart being so filled with love and joy watching my little ones copy us as we clapped or laughed. We would do it over and over again just to see those little smiles. Fundamentally it is how they learn but these are such special moments. Just as children imitate their parents, we should follow God’s example. Paul writes in Ephesians 5:1, “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.” I love…

Stay Connected
When we become one with Christ by trusting in Him, we experience the power that raised Jesus from the dead. This SAME power helps us live a new life! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” Nothing we do in this life is more important than a relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship grows as we pray…

Let It Go
Are you holding on to the guilt or shame of sin you did in the past? I watched a movie with my Grands yesterday and the song in it was named “Let it go!” As I watched our two little sweethearts dance, laugh, and smile to the music it made me think of this post for today. We need to be joyfully dancing for our God! God is love, God loves us, and we should dance with joy for our God as we let go of our past! Let’s live for today! God sent us His one and only son, to die for us, and to forgive our sins! No…

He Doesn’t Owe You
Samson was a judge for Israel for 20 years per the Book of Judges. He was born with great physical strength and was dedicated to God at birth. Samson was to do great works for God by helping rescue Israel from the Philistines. Samson had several weaknesses, he used his gifts and abilities from God unwisely. He was controlled by sensuality and often confided in the wrong people. Samson’s great physical strength did allow him to conquer many Philistines and have personal victories. The problem was he had some pride issues. He would boast and take great credit for his work and not give God the credit or glory. When…

How to Start Revival
“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to the world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” 1 John 3:1 This scripture brings an exciting message (we are God’s children!!!) yet it also brings a level of sadness at the same time. There’s an urgency, a sense of time running out….”because they don’t know him.” The love that comes from the Holy Spirit living inside of believers breaks down walls and division. It’s the only way to reach those who don’t know Him. When you live out…

Boast Only
Pride is like a cavity. We may not realize it’s there at first, it starts small but it gets bigger and more painful until the only thing left to do is to yank the tooth out. God despises pride. He destroyed the king of Assyria because he was “proud and arrogant.” (Isaiah 10:12) The king took all the credit. I this, I that, it was me!!! As a business leader we’ve all been taught, never say I, always say we or the team. But as a Christian leader do we go beyond this training and give credit to our Father? Pride was such a big issue in Corinth because they…
