Live Compassionately…
This week it has been heavy on my heart to write about compassion. Our Father in Heaven is so compassionate to all of us!
“The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all His creation.” Psalm 145:9
He then gave us His son who defines compassion for us physically on earth – which is laced with love, giving, kindness, peace, and goodness.
We humans on earth have been created in the image of our God to be like Jesus. But how many of us reflect compassion for others when in the workplace? Are we willing to feel someone else’s pain and suffer with them, love them, be giving, be kind, embrace peace, and still be good to them?
In my opinion, compassion for others seems to be lacking in the work world and I really think it is because people lack self compassion. When we don’t have compassion for ourselves how can we have compassion for others? We beat ourselves up if we do not meet deadlines, forget to do a task, our real self is seen through emotion, or our attitude is not shining perfectly. So many of us women tell ourselves we are less than, we must strive to please others to get ahead, and we literally hate ourselves internally.
STOP doing this ladies! Learn to have compassion for yourself, which is laced with love, giving, kindness, and peace…then you can flow the goodness to your coworkers. We can ONLY do this if we have Jesus in our lives which gives us the power of God in us through His Spirit. Reading the Word of God teaches us all about our compassionate Jesus and will transform our minds and allow us to live in the Spirit!!
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:2
The work world is not the easiest place to live compassionately, but no one said this journey of faith would be easy… but let me tell you it is worth it, ask Jesus for help, my life is transforming because of Him!!
Read the below scriptures as Matthew tells us about our compassionate Jesus:
“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” NLT 9:36
“Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.” NLT 14:14
“So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.” NKJV 20:34
His compassion came through at all times of His journey on earth, not just when it was convenient for Him. He lived through all of the emotions and issues we live through, this is good to remember as you walk out your safe home into the worldly world!
Move forward with encouragement because of Jesus and thrive to have compassion for yourself and then others, even when it is not convenient or easy.
