It’s Not Always About You

Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:2-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

True greatness comes from serving others. Jesus said this to James and John as they questioned their leadership status. Jesus came to this earth to serve others. He didn’t need a title or status – he focused on people and relationships.

But so often in our culture self-promotion and personal achievement are the measures of success.

Instead of rewarding employees on achieving results; perhaps we should instead reward them on their behavior and how they’ve supported developing others.

Put others first. It’s not always about you.

Treat others with love, patience, and kindness.

Consider others’ interests above yours. We don’t always have to be right or have the last word.

Your idea may not always be the best one. Be open to suggestions and help others feel like they won too!

Let’s start changing our mindset to be less about us and more about others.

You may not get a handshake or a pat on the back. But your true boss, your Father, will be smiling.
