Even in the…
Jeremiah spent his entire life prophesying and confronting some pretty big personalities. Can you imagine the heartache of knowing people didn’t listen! Imagine the sheer anguish Jeremiah felt as he watched Judah destroyed. He loved those people and his grief ran deep.
All of us at some point will or may be experiencing grief. It is surely part of life and being a Christian doesn’t make us immune to grief.
After the fall of Judah, Jeremiah begins to write Lamentations. This book is called the “funeral song” – everything was destroyed just as God had warned. But despite the destruction and sadness that Jeremiah felt these words stopped me as I was reading:
“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”
(Lamentations 3:22-24)
Even in the grief…
Even in the tears…
Even in the sorrow and heartache…
Jeremiah was STILL praising God!
His hope was STILL in God.
God keeps his promises and his mercies certainly begin afresh each morning. When our eyes wake each day we get another moment to praise and be thankful – we get another ray of hope.
He keeps hope alive! In the mornings…and the evenings! Trusting in God’s faithfulness day by day makes us confident in his promise for the future!
Take time today to celebrate and begin afresh!
Love,
Heather
