BUT EVEN IF HE DOESN’T

Faith by believing and not by seeing. What powerful words written by Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:7. We’ve all heard the story from the Bible about the three men thrown into the furnace. This is the kind of faith Paul was writing about.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were standing in front of King Nebuchadnezzar as he demanded that they bow down to his idols or be thrown into the blazing furnace. Were they scared? Did they ask for time to think about their decision? Did they bow down to the idols to save their lives? No!

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.  BUT EVEN IF HE DOESN’T, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18)

EVEN IF HE DOESN’T – wow! Stop and think about this! These men of God chose to be faithful REGARDLESS of the outcome. What a testament of faith – thinking only in terms of their eternal home and not the temporary one here on Earth. They trusted God even when they couldn’t predict the outcome.  They walked into the furnace confident that God would save them BUT if He didn’t they respected God’s sovereignty. And they still acknowledged Him as their one and only God!

How often are we tempted to question outcomes when they aren’t what we may have prayed for? EVEN IF HE DOESN’T……

Heal my sickness….

Secure my promotion…..

Bless this relationship……

Answer all my prayers…

Put who I vote for in office….

Rescue me from the furnace….

I will still TRUST Him!

I want every person reading this today to know that if you’ve accepted Christ YOU have the SAME power that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had! Say what?! Yes! You have the same power to say and believe “either way this goes I know who my God is.”  Paul wrote to the Ephesians about “confident hope” that has been given to God’s holy people. Believe and stand on the greatness of God’s power EVEN IF.

TRUST God in EVERY situation!

Have a great Friday!!!
