BACK TO THE BEGINNING

It’s been a messy year. There have been times of stillness and searching. But I have continued to press on because I know God’s ways and God’s thoughts are higher than my own. Over the last month I’ve continued to feel my Spirit saying, “go back, go back to the beginning. Go back to where you first found Me.” It’s been a journey of the heart as I went back to 2017.

The first book of the Bible I ever read was Matthew. So that’s where I went. Back to the place when I started reading my Bible in the mornings and amazing truths were revealed. Back to following the life of Jesus, back to that Sunday in August 2017 when I met Lisa, back to the revelation we both had that everything we needed to know about life, relationships, love and leading in the workplace was all in the Bible! Seriously, it’s all in there!  I remembered some of the first blogs we ever wrote. #wwrf #rooted

I think sometimes in the messiness it’s easy to forget the small beginnings. The prior tugging of the heart. The moment where truth is revealed and seeds get planted. And as I’ve studied Matthew all of these realizations came flooding back as to the mission He’s given Rooted despite the bumps along the way.

Jesus covers the values He expects us to live by, work by and lead by in His very first sermon:

Integrity; doing right

Prayer for God’s agenda

Prioritization on eternity

Living righteously

Letting small things go

Giving to others

Walking the narrow path

Obedience

Judging yourself before others

Jesus wanted His disciples to see the world from a different perspective. We are His disciples each day we walk into our place of work; even if it’s right at home. It’s the WHY behind Rooted. To share and live out these values in the workplace.

Regardless of your own messiness right now, think back to those first moments where you encountered Christ. Do you remember that joy? That confirmation? The mission He may have given you as well? Guess what? He is still there. He doesn’t leave us or abandon us in the mess. He simply takes our hand and walks us back to the beginning. It’s a slow walk; a rekindling of a flame that never goes out.

Love from Rooted,

Heather & Lisa
