Build Bridges Not Walls

Romans 10:12-13 “For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of ALL and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are ALL one in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 3:11 “In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free, Christ is ALL that matters, and he lives in ALL of us.

When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are made new! The Bible tells us we have been declared righteous by faith; not because we follow certain religious rituals or because we look a certain way. Regardless of who we are, what we’ve done, what we look like, or where we are from God tells us as members of His body we are made ONE in Christ.

Unfortunately it is in our human nature to put labels on things. We look at each other and immediately begin to categorize each other. And quite frankly, many people, even Christians are extremely uncomfortable being around even other Christians that are “different.” But what if we looked at each other through the lens of Christ? Would we see race, nationality, social status, wealth or education across the body of believers? Would we keep a legalistic mindset that associates tattoos, men with long hair, or the way someone dresses as a “bad” Christian? What should the body of believers look like to non-believer looking from the outside? Would they be welcomed or even want to be part of what they see?

All through the gospels we see God telling us that we are ALL one in Christ Jesus. Christ accepts ALL people who come to know Him. When we are saved the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us and we become a family of adopted sons and daughters. It may look like a big group of misfits but who are we to judge? See others through the lens of Christ – love each other and welcome new believers into God’s family – be a bridge builder.
