Active Faith – Rooted

As Christians, we are not justified to God by what we do in any way. James tells us true genuine faith results in action producing good deeds and works, but the deeds and works do not justify us with God. (Justify means – Be in good standing with God)

Faith in Jesus Christ alone justifies us with God and brings us salvation; active obedience demonstrates that our faith is genuine and true. Active faith will result in change in your life.

Paul emphasizes the PURPOSE of faith is to bring salvation. Romans 3:28 says “We are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.”

James emphasizes the RESULTS of faith is a changed life!! “So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.” James 2:24

It is TRUE that good deeds NEVER earn salvation, but true genuine faith will always result in a changed life! This is active faith. Faith without good works is dead and useless.

“Just as the body is dead without Spirit, so also faith is dead without good works. “ James 2:26

We can have intellectual knowledge of Christ, speak about Him, even profess our faith in Him, but… if there is not visible transformation or a changed life – is it true genuine faith?

James says even the demons talk about Christ and know Him, they know there is only One God. But they do not OBEY or TRUST Him. Their ACTIONS show they are not following Jesus.

Don’t just know about Christ and talk about Him!!

Take action: Follow, seek, obey, and trust Our Jesus Christ!
