BUT BY MY SPIRIT
Vision is defined as a clear picture of a positive future state. As we’ve learned this week every leader needs a vision in order to help the team keep perspective and stay on course. Zechariah was tasked with rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem. But the Jews were discouraged. No small job right? His purpose was to give hope to God’s people by revealing God’s plan for the future and to rebuild! Many people believe that the only way to succeed, the only way to execute the vision is by being tough, demanding and unyielding. Zecharaiah could have been ruthless but instead he proclaimed an impelling message to the people, a…

It Starts with a Dream!
Do you have a dream you want to accomplish? What gives you so much excitement you can’t stop thinking about it? In Genesis, Jacob’s son Joseph did have a dream. He never gave up and his dream was fulfilled. Joseph was an effective leader in the Bible – all effective leaders have dreams. A dream is an inspiring picture of the future that energizes and empowers. The period between a dream’s birth and realization is always a process. It can be a long hard process and will not always go the way you think it should. Joseph went from privileged son, to the pit of slavery, to the palaces of…

Clear Communication
Casting Vision…Are you likable as a leader to your teams?! Jesus communicates vision in the Bible like no other! Jesus is the ultimate leader, influencer and communicator. In the book of Acts, right before He ascends into heaven He speaks his final words to the disciples. Jesus communicates a vision to them about reaching the whole world and witnessing of Him. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 Leaders communicate vision to instruct and empower their teams. Jesus instructed the disciples to…

Vision Casting
Once we discover our purpose – our“why” – and then begin down a path of leadership, we have to communicate our vision! Vision casting is sharing what we see for the future of our organization or teams – this is done in a clear and inspiring way. If it is not shared clearly, it can become uncertain and as Andy Stanley says, “become a fog in your organization.” Leaders vision cast to influence people and lead them. Without vision casting from our leaders, our teams will not grow successfully and people will not follow you! #leadershipnovemeber#visioncasting#communicating#influence#inspire#stayrooted

What’s Your Why?
John Maxwell says, “the two most important days in your life are…the day you were born and the day you figure out why?” Have you ever woken up and wondered why you are doing what you do in your career? I was confused for many many years and was not sure what my purpose was. I started my career very young in the family business selling janitorial supplies business to business through distribution. In my 20’s I was selling toilet paper and calling on janitors, this was NOT glamorous and very humbling at times. It was a paycheck though and a very secure industry, so I remained loyal to the…

Hold Each Other Up
This week’s teachings by Heather on resilience were spot on! Thank you friend. #leadershipnovember Heather and I usually share our posting on Rooted weekly, but last week I was overwhelmed with travel and facilitating a training at work. She jumped in no questions asked – she was the example of holding up my arms – being there for me, helping and loving me unconditionally. In real life we are going to have these weeks of too much to do and being overwhelmed. Seek the Lord during these times and stay resilient in your faith. Also remember, we can’t go it alone! As Heather said, pray for a core group of…

Armed and Rooted
The year 2020 has been hard. Whether it’s at work, home, school, or at church…..we’ve been faced with a tremendous amount of change and hardships. But it can teach us something about leading through a crisis. I end the week by asking you to take 10 minutes today and read Ephesians 6:10-20. Put a sticky note on the page. As we live our Christian lives we battle against rulers and authorities of evil forces we can’t even see. But when we arm ourselves with the Whole Armor of God we can withstand the attacks. We can be RESILIENT as we face the hardships, the lies, the setbacks, and the negative…

RESPONSE VS REACTION
Choosing how we handle the day to day “craziness” as I call it builds resilience. Every day we are faced with challenges and decisions. I have learned through my career, in being a wife, and a mother of three that things don’t always go as planned. Honestly! Learn that now! This was a big struggle in my life because I’m a planner and I spent most of my life being completely inflexible. My response to situations was often out of frustration and anger. “God chooses what we go through; we choose how we go through it.” As I thought about these words from John C. Maxwell, James 1:22 came to…

DON’T GO IT ALONE!
Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes that “two are better than one.” God did not intend us to be alone. “For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” Resilience is also grown by surrounding ourselves with other Christian women. Seek to develop close friendships with women who will pray for you, that you can laugh with and that will support you during trying times. I can tell you there is nothing more powerful than a genuine friend that prays for you and supports you! The story of Moses, Aaron and Hur touches…

I WILL SURVIVE
Early in my career I purchased a journal and on the cover I wrote, ‘I WILL SURVIVE.’ I used this book to reflect each day on things I had said or done or questions that I may have had. By taking this time to reflect on my day, it allowed me to think through how to do things better and how to handle situations in the future. My I WILL SURVIVE journals have now been replaced with my daily prayer journals. Inviting God to participate in your daily reflection time strengthens your relationship with Him and grows your resiliency (aka FAITH!). Before you read your Bible ask God to not…
