Gifts Day 3 – Build up the Church
The greatest gift ever given to mankind was the day “darkness fell across the whole land and the curtain in the Temple was torn down the middle.” It was the day when Jesus spoke his last words saying, “It is finished.”
It should have been us on the cross. The cross is our gift. It all goes back to the cross.
When God sacrificed His son EVERYTHING changed! Jesus “personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.” (1 Peter 3:24)
When Jesus died for us, our Father forgave us of our sins so that we would not have to suffer the punishment we deserved! And then He sent the Holy Spirit to continuously renew us! Jesus bore the pain of our sins so that we could be saved and have a new life. #madenew #nogreatergift
“And when he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.” (Ephesians 4:7-8) All believers in Christ belong to one body. God gave us the greatest gift when our sins were forgiven and then through Christ he equipped each of us with special gifts. Why? It wasn’t so we could bring honor to ourselves. It was solely to build up the church.
God has called His body of believers to “make disciples in every nation” – gifts of preaching, teaching, healing, nurturing, giving, administering, building and so many other gifts….. they ALL have ONE purpose.
Don’t let the gift of the cross be just a day you celebrate each year at Easter. The cross allowed us to be made perfect and complete; it allowed us to each have special gifts. Embrace these special gifts God gave you and you alone and use them for the sole purpose of building up the church.
Love you all so much! Thank you for following this journey on gifts with me this week.
