Pray for ALL People
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for ALL people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and ALL who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” 1 Timothy 2
“How this works is a mystery”…..I wrote those words down last month in my journal as I reflected on this scripture. I stopped and thought about how often I “haven’t” prayed for the leaders around me.
Think about perhaps the CEO of your company, the department head, the dean, the chief, the president, the principal, the pastor, the government officials…..Do you pray for their wisdom to make good decisions? Do we say thank you for these people whether we agree with them, like them, or whether we even know them? Do we pray that they may come to know Jesus Christ? God calls us to pray for them.
So yes how it works is a mystery but I know with all my heart that it does. It works because Jesus died on the cross for us and our prayers are heard. It just takes faith, trust, confidence, patience and love.
So my challenge to everyone today is to take 2 minutes and pray for our leaders.
