DOUBT…

Ever have doubt…like in times of trials? Maybe some doubt about your faith and our God? Reading Psalm 77 this morning I was encouraged by God’s Word and hope it inspires you too!!

Asaph is the author and had cried out to God in his times of trials. The first half of the Psalm it was all about him doubting God during his distress and he used “I” many times, thinking about himself first. All that “I” am suffering. All that God was not doing for and fixing for “I.” It was all God’s fault.

“You don’t let me sleep, I am too distressed to even pray. I think of the good ole days, long since ended, when my nights were filled with joyful songs.” Psalm 77:4-5

First encouragement to overcome doubt, as we pray to God shift our focus from ourselves to Him. We must think less of ourselves and worship our God. Become selfless and raise God up in prayer.

Then, in verse 13 & 14 Asaph’s mindset had a shift… “O God, your ways are holy. Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders. You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.” Psalm 77:13-14

Only after he put aside self and trusted God’s holiness and ultimate care for him, did he start to eliminate his distress and doubt.

In the last half of the Psalm, Asaph was reflecting on God’s miracle of the Red Sea crossing done for the Israelites. This miracle memory encouraged him during his own trial. To sustain our faith during trials and doubt reflect back on miracles God has done, either in the Bible or in your own life!

During this last year my walk has had many trials and much doubt had flooded my heart and mind when it came to church and my faith. Was God being turned to during these trials, or was doubt taking me down a road of selfishness. Was it about me or about God?

Thankfully, as I would pray and worship our God in my quiet time, He did help me. God would remind me of true miracles He has done for me and my family. Miracles that have forever changed my life here on earth and have gifted eternity to me and many I love. These miracle memories have sustained me during this year of stress and distress. Thank you God, I am so grateful.

Second encouragement to overcome doubt, when you meet the trials in your life, review what God has done in the past, and this will strengthen and sustain your faith. 😍

Doubt is something that flashes in our minds from time to time – it is real and we all experience it. We are human and Jesus knows we will have these emotions and thoughts, He does care and will help us through the Holy Spirit and reading the Word!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 So be encouraged to keep moving toward God.

Also…share your miracle stories with your loved ones! When we do this they can pass these stories down from generation to generation to keep HOPE alive – to keep God alive in our families. These miracle memories in your life and the ones in the Bible will continually remind us of God’s power, protection, and most of all HIS LOVE!!

“So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.” Psalm 78:7

God is faithful and trustworthy my friends, so push aside the doubts and lift Him up in worship. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 He deserves ALL the glory.

Trust in God’s holiness and know that He cares. ❤️ He is an awesome God!!!!
